dejeuner sur l'herbe

Edouard Manet painted Luncheon on the Grass in 1863. Here some art lovers regard it in 2006.

i like to think the dudes in the second photo are regarding you ... possibly for lunch, even.

I like looking at people in art galleries. I was surprised to find I was allowed to use my camera in galleries in Europe (with the 'no flash' caveat).

I'm surprised they're allowed to carry bottled water around. Whatever happened to "no food or beverages beyond this point"?

Nice pics- I like the young man sitting dead-center in the second photo, studiously contemplating the young lady's 'artistic properties'. My wife tells me that that's about as close as men who wear black socks with shorts are ever likely to get to a naked woman...

Oh! And the cd arrived, and I can't tell you how happy I am to have Anna Russell on cd! My wife's record has long-since vanished, and she's tickled pink to be able to play me all those cuts she has told me about for five years now.

Thank you! Thank you!

I am also rather fond of that black clad lad. In the first picture, his pose closely mirrors the painted gentleman visible in the bottom right of the art work's frame.

Glad Anna found her way across the seas. Hello to your wife & fellow Russell-ite. Tell her I said: "If music be the food of love, play on. He didn't say on what, but I think it's a marvelous idea".
