In my mother's garden in Vancouver there is ONE type of plant and ONE type only - YES, the hydrangea - tons of them. We call her Mama Monocultural - branch out, we say...
I like that H. macrophylla can have different coloured flowers depending on its environment. Even the same plant can change colour if its soil changes. We should be so flexible.
dear Mrs Optica - hydrangeas are lovely, but, if only for your children's sake, plant something else.
Hydrangeas are my sister's favorite flower. This picture captures everything she loves about them, color, delicateness, beauty, and a certain sense of softness. Thank you!
Those are beautiful. Reminds me that spring is coming here.
Well, we know that. The bears are out of hibernation and we had to take the bird feeders in. A pity- we have seven pairs of cardinals this year. Last year our first pair raised two broods in the bushes right outside our kitchen windows.
But yeah, the bears come and *whap* flatten the bird feeders and the neighbors watch them climbing the trees in the front yard, so the bird feeders come in.
I took these photos with my Lumix camera. It has a Leica lens. Laika was the first dog in space. Dogs In Space is an Australian film made in 1986. My friend Fiona played Barbara the Socialist. Now my friend Miss Simons lives two doors from the house where Dogs In Space was shot in Melbourne. I just sold the Dogs In Space R-rated soundtrack LP on eBay for $26.

No flowers like that yet, but soon.
