black berries

Shiny. But only eat them if you'd like a swift trip to a convenient mortuary. Or, maybe they are delicious. Who can say? Who was the first homo sapiens sapiens to try one? Hey, Barry, this is shiny. Eat this. *snigger*. Maybe Homo sapiens idaltu tested it out. And that's why they are extinct (take that, fraternal sub-species).

I'm just hanging out for Friday.

I always wonder who was the first human to eat lobster, and the decision making process on that

I always wonder about artichokes ... who? why? huh? These berries look delicious though!

malach: Do you think it was a case of - let's just cook everything & we'll see what tastes good.

sara sue: Separating egg whites & then beating them til stiff? What genius came up with that?

Sara Sue beat me to it, but I, too, have always wondered about artichokes. I figure somebody was either really, really, REALLY hungry or he lost a bet.

Yeast, too. How did they figure that one out?

I would have to give one a lick. They are too tempting. It's a wonder that I lived through childhood.

pheebs: What about truffles? That was a bet, for sure. And oh heaven yummers we are so glad someone did.

chickie; Kids these days have weak immune systems because their environments are too clean. All that dirt and poison we ate as children has made us robust.

Chillis! How did that go? Soemthing like this I'll wager:

'Hey Ugg - here, try this red thing - you'll really like it...' [snigger]

anaglyph: Yes, poor Ugg. He must have been SGM's ancestor, by Grak.

And then there are the foods that will kill you unless you prepare them correctly- fugu, for instance. How many people died while they were trying to figure out how to prepare it so it's not lethal, and where did they get the volunteers?

oh yes, colonel - and they still die. I'll stick with vegemite on toast.
