This Common Wombat is a young joey just emerging from the burrow. Tintarella & I were in Tas for 4 days & we saw 22 wombats.

Well I'll be darned! I've been a wombat fan for years and didn't know they had such interesting poop. This makes them even more endearing.

There's a band playing at a Get Rid Of Howard gig in Sydney who are called Combat Wombat. They should have Square Poo & Distinctive Cubic Scats on the same stage. (I'm not picking - they are BOTH good names.)
I have patted a wombat on the head at Western Plains Zoo. The hair is very coarse, and I could feel her very hard bony skull just under the skin. She kept turning her head to try to give me a nip, which the keeper said was affectionate but I wouldn't bank on it.
