birth day

On my birthday every year, Miss K would give me a card. In each one she wrote "You grow lovelier with every passing year." On her birthday, I would give her a card saying "You will always be older than me."

Miss K died four years ago, aged 47. Today I turned 48. Now it is she who grows lovelier with every passing year, and I am the one who is older.

A big Happy Birthday to you in those foreign climes! Kpop is forever in our hearts, especially on birthdays which we know she loved. Well, actually she didn't care so much about the birthdays - it was the presents she loved...

Happy HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Sigh. Memories are bittersweet. My best friend offed himself on my birthday, pure coincidence, but something I'll always remember, even now, 25 years since.

But, life and memories go on, and our best wishes to you and Kate, and the Reverend. Sigh.

But now Phoebe and our other friends will all join in singing our TRADITIONAL BEEKSLAYERS BARFDAY SONG-

Sappy Barfday to you!
Hope your toes don't turn blue!
Hopi Ben's gay,
snowy owls slay,
and give you a dead shrew!

SAPPY BARFDAY, CISSY STRUTT!!!!

and many many moooooore!

Happy Birthday!

Or, as the Colonel correctly puts it, Sappy Barfday!

And now, both you and Miss K grow lovelier with each passing year.

May this be a year filled with lovely suprises.

anaglyph: So very very true.

malach: Ah! Le mot just.

colonel: I'm touched. Thanks for the shrew.

cuntie: A very erudite person said just that in her eulogy.

sara sue: Hello my sister. Glad you are still in the world.

pheebs: I look forward to those very surprises. Thanks for the nice sentiment.

Well, my friends, I am heading into the wilds of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, this afternoon. I don't think they have the Internet there. Back on the weekend.

A happy belated birthday to you!

I have a friend that was a couple of months older than me and every year, on her birthday, I'd call and ask her if it hurt turning whatever age it was. She passed away a couple of years ago and I really miss making that call.

I thought it was you that said that. Oh. Oops.

Damn, we're gonna miss you this trip. And I had all the marigolds trained to sing "Waltzing Matilda" too...

anaglyph: "very erudite" in this case means "someone of average ability who fluked a good day".

colonel: Double damn.

I'm back in Sydney. Photos of food very soon.

chickie: You'll know I mean it when I say - I know just how you feel.
