dad

Dad died three years ago today. Here he is in 1960 with 8 week old Cissy and her brother.

Mum labelled the photo on the back ...

("Dad's hard afternoon")

Here we are in LA, on the porch of our house. Dad was at USC on a Fullbright scholarship.

Sydney 1963. And there's nothing like tickling fingers to induce hysteria in small children.

He was a great dad as dads go. And as dads go, he went. (Special 'dad joke' for Dad, who had many).

He looks like a great dad. And he did at least one thing great in this world.

I think my Daddy is my Daddy since I look just like him.
Daddies are pretty cool.

pheebs: It's funny - he does look like such a dad in these photos.

ag: Yeah, daddies are cool alright. Check out those hornrims.

cuntie: thanks, marvelous girl. I had a nice time sorting through photos.

Oh Angry - to think, the whole world of Dad jokes is now open to you.

I'll get you started -

ag: I'm hungry!
angrydad; Hello Hungry, I'm Angrydad.

My dad died just a little over three years ago. I miss him and probably always will.

You dad looks like he rocked, like my Dad (still alive only 58). So is someone knocking back a beer there?

I love your Dad's face. He looks like he was a sweetie.

mike: Yes, we miss them, but it' nice to remember them warmly.

malach: Had a beer last night for Dad, though his tipple was gin & tonic. He was 75.

hereT: Never an unkind word, and always picked insects up in his hankie to take outside - he wouldn't squash them.

I don't have a hell of a lot of photos of my Dad and I. When my parents split, most of his pictures magically disappeared, so when he died, and I planned his service, it was extremely hard to find what I needed. But I still managed for the most part... I'm definitely one to save all these things. Hang on to them and cherish hem dearly.

Lovely post. Thanks for sharing and for giving us a peek at little Cissy.

colonel: He was interested in everything, so he could talk to anyone. You & he would have had some great yarns together, as you showed him your favourite books.

girly-girl: Thank you. 'Cherish' is such a great word, and we can do more of it in our lives, I think. See the small things to cherish, and not be blinded by the horrid.

chickie: Oh she was a whippersnapper.

I am spellbound by the first shot. I want it to animate and let me inside that room for the afternoon. Thank you for sharing this post. It is truly wonderful.
